Fiorentina Striker Alberto Gilardino believes that the 2010 World Cup in South Africa is an appropriate moment for him to shine in the Italian national team.
Gilardino is part of the Italian national team who won the World Cup trophy in Germany four years ago. Despite Gilardino managed to become the main striker at the start of the tournament, he still lost their place in the quarter-finals and not playing in the final.
Currently, Gilardino hoping to be the main savior of Italy.
"I want to experience a fantastic World Cup, I've corrected some small things, both physically and mentally so I can start the tournament well," said Gilardino sebagamaian cited fifa.com, today.
"As for whether I will become the main choice, it's up to coach [Marcello Lippi], but I felt I was ready 100%. I am ready to take responsibility, it is a precious moment in my career," he said.
Gilardino scored a goal when Italy played a draw against the USA in the qualifying group in Germany, but was replaced in the other group two qualifying matches. He also replaced in the second round against Australia.
In the next game only to be a substitute Gilardino played not too long. Gilardino to be a substitute for Luca Toni in the party semi-final against Germany.
Gilardino used to play for AC Milan to Fiorentina, but later moved a few years later after losing his place as a core player for forward presence, Pato and Alberto Paloschi.
Gilardino is still angry because he dilego by the Milan giants origin. "I've scored 45 goals, many people who do not believe me, but the number of goals has been to prove that I have scored many goals for Milan."
Although the World Cup is an event that's right for the club to see a player who can recruit, now seem to focus only Gilardino to convince Lippi that he deserves to be the main attacker in the Azzuri team.
"I feel that has shown good performance in Florence in the last two years and I still have three more years on my contract. I do not want to discuss the transfer market or my future," said Gilardino.
